Nokia Custom Dictionary for Predictive Text

The Nokia Beta Labs team have been working on this particular application following many requests from end users. They have designed this experimental application to address the wish that many S60 users have had: for example:  To be able to edit the list of words used by the phone for text prediction,  and then transfer it between phones quickly. Nokia Custom Dictionary does exactly that, and they have also given you the chance to import words from a text file too.

This means you can quickly “teach” your phone commonly used words or even create specific word lists to be shared among a like-minded community, for example in the medical domain.

Please remember, as with any public beta launch, the application is not yet perfect. There are some known incompatibilities with some of the older S60 3rd edition devices for example. There might also be the odd functional or usability issue. Beta Labs hope that their enthusiastic Beta Labs community, yes, thats you, can uncover these teething problems together, by reporting any problems, or issues directly to the team in the link below..

Please download the application (requires login) and share your feedback with the Beta Labs team. They are eager to know if you find this application useful and how they can improve it further for its users.

Samsung has announced a new phone in India called the Metro 5200. A slider phone, the device has surprised many for being not branded a Corby. This is because, the last few months have seen a flurry of launches form Samsung mostly all devices being from the Corby family.

Coming to the Metro, the phone is a slim slider boasting of not so spectacular features like a 2.1-inch 16M (240 320) color screen, FM Radio with RDS, music player and office docs support. For the storage junkie in you, it offers 50MB internal memory with microSD card slot up to 8GB. The sales package comes bundled with a 1GB card that should suffice for most users. It has an 800mAh battery as well that offers a 5 hour talk time.

The camera is a 3.2 megapixel unit with LED flash and face detection which isn’t that bad. The phone doesn’t cost a bomb and will set you back by  Rs. 7,439 which, for this phone, seems to be the just right price.
